Canelo’s Journey to Healing

Meet Canelo! Once a lonely soul, he struggled on the streets, trapped in a world of pain and neglect. People passed him by, indifferent to his suffering, as he fought against the discomfort of a large tumor that covered his face. One fateful day, he found a flicker of safety at the doorstep of a humble family. Though they didn’t own him, this sweet family shared what little food they could spare. They were poor, unable to provide shelter, but their hearts were full of compassion. The head of the household called us for help, revealing that Canelo had endured this life for over two months. We couldn’t fathom the extent of his suffering or the size of the tumor he carried.

As we approached him, it was impossible to ignore the kindness in his eyes, a gentle soul that seemed too loving for a life of hardship. Rushed to an oncologist, tests revealed the heartbreaking truth: Canelo had transmissible venereal tumors (TVT) and a cancerous tumor on his head. This sexually transmitted disease confirmed a painful reality—Canelo had been used as a breeding dog, cast aside when he became sick and no longer useful. We wasted no time starting his first chemotherapy session. Canelo, understandably introverted and wary, seemed to have been isolated for most of his life. I spent countless hours by his side, slowly earning his trust and showing him the love he had been denied. I introduced him to a world of kindness, sharing his story on social media and connecting him with supporters who already loved him.

With each passing week, Canelo began to transform. His health improved as he gained weight and completed his second round of chemotherapy. Though the road to healing was long, we remained hopeful. By the third week, after his fourth chemotherapy session, we noticed the tumor shrinking, revealing his beautiful face. The doctors estimated he would need only a few more sessions until he was cancer-free. Despite some setbacks, including anemia due to the cancer, Canelo thrived under our care. We ensured he received nutritious meals, rich in red meat and liver, to aid his recovery. After six months, nine chemotherapy treatments, and an abundance of love from his foster mom and our team, Canelo was finally cancer-free.

Now, a new chapter begins for Canelo. Adopted by his foster mom, he lives like a king, surrounded by love and comfort. We hope you share in our pride for his brand-new life, and we extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who supported his rescue and treatment. Together, we have given Canelo the life he deserves, filled with joy and warmth.
