“Hulk’s Journey: From Neglect to Hope”
Amid the mountains of discarded waste, there lived a dog, overlooked by all who passed. His home was among the trash, where he scavenged for scraps to survive. His frail body, covered in grime and scars, told the story of his struggle. Each day was a fight for food, shelter, and warmth, while the world moved on, indifferent to his existence. His eyes, once bright with life, now mirrored the emptiness of his forgotten soul.
We found him there, alone and weak, and carefully lifted his fragile body from the filth, placing him gently into the truck. As we drove to the shelter, we noticed a flicker of hope in his tired eyes. It was as if he sensed that his days of living among garbage were coming to an end. We named him Hulk and ensured he was well-fed and comfortable while waiting for his vet appointment. It was clear that Hulk hadn’t known kindness in a long time, but in the soft bed we provided, he finally felt safe.
The next day, I took him to the vet for a thorough check-up. Fortunately, his TB test came back negative, but further tests brought bad news. Hulk was diagnosed with both ehrlichiosis and anaplasmosis, two severe tick-borne illnesses. Additionally, he weighed only 26 kilograms, far below the healthy weight for a dog of his size and breed. Determined to help Hulk recover, we placed him on a specialized diet tailored to his needs. He was fed high-quality, grain-free food rich in protein and essential nutrients. To encourage his appetite, we mixed wet food into his meals, ensuring he was hydrated with fresh water available at all times. We also gave him bone broth, a nutritious and soothing addition to help heal his weakened body.
His injured leg would have to wait until he regained his strength. Our priority was to see him fight off the infections and reach a healthy weight. Once Hulk was strong enough, we planned to assess the best options for his leg, knowing surgery might be necessary. Every decision revolved around his well-being. He had been through so much, but we were determined to give him the life he deed.
